Hmm...yes. I'd like to see Roy fight Tito...never was a Tito fan and would not mind seeing Roy tee of on him a little bit. But after that where does Roy go? Roy looked decent...fought like Winky at times tonight....covers up better but fights more flat-footed and gets hit more. The fight was entertaining at times, but not the most exciting Jones battle to ever be witnessed. Jones dropped Hanshaw in the eleventh, the only real highlight of the contest. Hanshaw tried to pound Jones against the ropes like other fighters have done in the past. In this fight, Jones used a very tight defense to block Hanshaw's punches when he got trapped against the ropes.
The scores were 114-113, 117-110 and 118-109.
Now the fight with Felix "Tito" Trinidad is going to heat up.
Trinidad recently announced that he would return to ring in January 2008, and wanted Jones as the opponent. Minor discussions have been held, but the fight would have been totally off if Jones would have lost to Hanshaw.
Now the serious talks can begin.
Trinidad was set to fight Jones back in 2001, then the fight was derailed after Bernard Hopkins knocked Trinidad out in twelve rounds. Both fighters are calling for the January bout, let's sit back and actually see if it happens.
Add a jab and Roy has a lot easier time...
