Wright Plans To Test Hopkins' Age and Stamina

During a recent conference call with the media, Dan Birmingham, trainer of Ronald "Winky" Wright, told the press that Wright is going to test the age and stamina of the 42-year-old Hopkins when they meet on July 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. [details]

I think it's a very good strategy. The same one that Taylor used to pile up points early and made Hopkins have to come from behind late.

Winky won't be able to throw as many punches as he did against his previous opponents, because of Bernard's footwork and ring intelligence. But he still will throw a lot more than bhop.

Edit: The extra weight will cost him some output, too.

I still have the feeling Bernard can outsmart Winky and beat him.

It is a good strategy but is it really in Winky to open up like that? I have always said that fighters can beat Hopkins by outworking him but Winky seems the least likely candidate for that.

he threw over a 1000 punches against Quartey, and he threw a ton against Taylor as well.

I think the only way to beat WRIGHT is to outpunch him, so this should be a very good fight
