Oscar had to stalk him because had he not there would have been no fightthis is why i feel floyd controlled the fight rather than oscar. oscar fought at floyd's pace, he just looked aggressive, but floyd made oscar stalk him until oscar became winded. he fought at floyd's pace, while floyd just did what floyd does, and ketp his poise, and stayed collective, and oscar played right into floyd's hands. floyd's a defense tactician. he could be a defensive coach for a football team if he wanted to. he knows his opponents so well, and knows how to work his defense like an offense. floyd made oscar tire out and blocked a lot of oscar's punches when on the rope. he made oscar try to pressure him because of his potshots, and oscar seemed frustrated that he couldn't catch floyd with hardly anything besides his jab. meanwhile, while oscar is throwing combos and tiring himself out, floyd is just picking his shots carefully and conserving his energy while being defensive. floyd threw punches that hit oscar's gloves, but he still threw punches, and when oscar threw many punches in a round that didn't land he still got that round. floyd probably figure that was what he had to do. throw at oscar's gloves so oscar can open up for floyd's power pucnhes. floyd knows how to put leather on his opponents even if many of his punches are thrown weak. floyd controlled this fight while oscar tried to pressure. he was playing right into floyd's hands.Comment

Your smokin crack if you think Floyd could ever knock Oscar out. He never hurt Oscari disagree. floyd stunned oscar a couple of times in this fight. floyd could have knocked oscar down or out in the 11th round, and in the 5th round imo. floyd threw fast punches at oscar's head in the 5th, and oscar was stunned, and floyd could have knocked him out imo had he kept at it. in the 11th, floyd hit oscar with a jab to the body, and oscar made a face and a noise as if he was hurt, and then right after that floyd threw 2 left hooks to oscar's body and oscar looked hurt by those punches, he pasued for a second. if floyd went to oscar's body more, i feel he would have knocked oscar out or at least down multiple times.
the reason floyd never stood toe to toe with oscar is because he's a defensive fighter, and he waits until you're winded to tag you up unless you're slow enough for him to it early. floyd's rarely went toe to toe with any of his opponents when he kncoked them out. with corley he went toe to toe some, but other than that, floyd has boxed his way to kos. he has picked his shots wisely and since he's so fast, he knows when to hit to stagger his opponent, and many times it's wheh they don't expect or see it. floyd likes to tire you out before his onslaught, it's no secret. that's why a lot of times, that's his strategy, he waits to the later rounds to punish his opponents to a knock out, and this is also why he trains the way he does, he conditions himself to go 12 rounds at full pace and if you tire out, you're in danger of beind hit a lot by floyd unless your defense is superb or have a chin of metal. floyd is smart, he knows how to win.Comment

I certainly like Oscar far more than I will ever like Mayweather, but I will tell the truth and admit that Floyd won the fight. I believe that Oscar was very competitve despite his age and ring-rust but he let this fight go to Floyd.
To my eyes, Oscar looked very nervous early in the fight and probally burned up alot of energy that he could have used later in the fight. The later rounds were the deciding factor in a closer than expected fight.
It also seems that Oscar might have bought too much into all the hype about needing a knockout to win against Floyd. Why in the world did he stop jabbing when it is one of his signature weapons and Floyd seemed to have no real answer for it?
Sadly, I saw oscar even attempt a few Rocky Balboa-style-desperation hooks at Floyd's head. How can such a good fighter with so much big fight experience make such mistakes? I will give Mayweather some of the credit based on his talent, but I think most of the problem was in Oscar's head.
My only problem with the Mayweather fans taking a victory-lap right now is the lack of truth about Floyd's performance. I saw Floyd throw many of his punches right into oscar's gloves throughout the fight. Floyd landed some good punches to be sure, but not what anyone would expect given his "prime skills" against a 34 year old, less-active, robot with a one-arm strategy.
Oscar looked like a typical older fighter with reduced speed, poor reflex-time, and just waiting too long to do something to sustain or create momentum. Mayweather did not look like the fighter that promised to "ice that mother****er," and the guy that thinks he is better than Leonard, Robinson, and Ali.
The blueprint to beat Floyd has been drawn by Castillo and De la hoya. A fighter with a good, fast jab that is willing to press the action both mentally and physically for 12 rounds, without giving in to Floyd's trashtalk, will win against Mayweather. It will take more than just an average fighter willing to try, but an A-level boxer will do it.Comment

A publicist for Oscar De La Hoya pointed out that Floyd Mayweather Jr. wore his sombrero improperly Saturday night. The flipped-up side is supposed to be at the back of the head. Mayweather wore it at the front. Then again, Mayweather was wearing the sombrero the way most Americans wear baseball caps these days.......
LOL WTF?
Close fights will always end up in post fight bull..Comment
