Hernandez Speaks on De La Hoya-Mayweather

By CompuBox - Only two men can boast of experiencing first hand the skills that Oscar de la Hoya and Floyd Mayweather possess. One is Arturo Gatti, who suffered blowout losses to both (KO by 5 against De La Hoya and KO by 6 to Mayweather). The other is former two-time junior lightweight champion Genaro Hernandez, and though he also lost to both men (via 8th round TKO to Mayweather and 6th round retirement to De La Hoya) he experienced some good moments as well. I read this article in the ring magazine, and this means nothing to me. Hernandez has always had animosity towards Oscar, even after Oscar knocked his ass out he was talking ****. Hernandez's opinion means nothing. Honestly we can sit here and say this is gonna happen, that is gonna happen, oscar will do this, floysd will do that. In all honesty no one knows what is gonna happen until we see it fight night.n We can all sit her and speculate, but thats all it is. Speculation and nothing more.

This was a good read, but I do disgaree with some of the things Hernandez said about his fights with PBF and Oscar.

Wow that is a different article than the one I read in the RING. He retracted and went with Oscar, another reason I would not value his opinion because he seems to be going back and forth. In the RING he picked Floyd.

Yea but he explains why he changed his opinion.

HERNANDEZ: Yeah, because I actually thought that Floyd Mayweather was going to beat him. I think he's quicker than Oscar, I think his defense is a little more problematic to get through, the only thing that I don't see Floyd Mayweather doing is slipping punches, bobbing and weaving so that makes it a more easier target for Oscar to hit. And we all know that (Carlos) Baldomir hit Mayweather with a left hook and the left hook is Oscar's power punch.

Baldy was able to hit him. Baldy just doesn't have the power or skill to execute the way Oscar does. Baldy isn't even close to being in Oscar's league. Not to mention Baldy is older, flat footed and slow.

You act like baldomir was tagging mayweather left and right, a boxer is eventually going to be hit in the ring. An example of someone hitting mayweather good is Judah, or Corley, the only 2 to really stun mayweather. Judah knocked his ass down.

Man, could Hernandez possibly make any more excuses?

He says, "I'm not going to say that's why I lost the fight but..." and then goes on to make an excuse on why he lost. I couldn't stop shaking my head reading the article.
