What was Jeff Lacy ranked in the boxing world before Joe Calzaghe got to him?

Anyone know? Was he the number 2 contender at that time?

The Ring had him as the #3 contender.

Who was number 2 at that time? Oh, and number 3 is still just as good.

        The Ring had it

        Champ - Vacant
        1. Joe Calzaghe
        2. Mikkel Kessler
        3. Jeff Lacy

Under the Ring rules if the belt is vacant then the champ can be decided by a title fight between the number one and the number two or number three contender.

Lacy was considered #1, and supposed to be the next big thing.

All these people who are given credit and are supposed to be the next big thing with their unbeaten records are exposed and fall by the wayside, while Joe still plods along with his unbeaten record. And people try still discredit him. Sad.

Lets not forget 90% of the Americans on here thought Lacy was gonna blow Calzaghe away

A lot of the Ring commentators thought that Lacy was going to blow Joe Blow away, but he kept his ranking because he kept winning. Even those few who had Calzaghe as favourite to win were surprised at how comprehensive the victory was.

I thought Lacy would have his moments, but I was confident Calzaghe would show his talent and come through in a comfortable UD although not that comfortable
