    Hopkins Not Against Fighting Holyfield

At the recent C.O.M.B.A.T.T. awards dinner in New Jersey, Bernard Fernandez of the Philadelphia Daily News approached Bernard Hopkins about the possibility of fighting former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield, who also attended the event. [details]

Definately noteworthy - but not very interesting.

I wish he had waited for (if) Evander to get a big win before saying his name.

It's hard to appreciate the circus atmosphere around some of these proposed fights.

Holyfield was considered completely toast only recently.. Add to that this steroids thing - and there's not much to win here.

    Bernard is a character..

Holyfield would win that one, way too strong for Hopkins, not a good fight for either fighter really.

Hopkins says Peter is the best heavyweight right now!
He said he would NEVER step in the ring with him because he had no chance against him!

Don't expect this fight to happen because it's a no-win situation for Holyfield. This fight would take months to set-up and does nothing to get Holyfield closer to a hw crown and a loss sets him back big time.

IMO, Holyfield will get his title shot later this year against the WBA or WBO incumbent title holder. He's got big name appeal which will sell out a likely venue in Las Vegas or even Germany. I'm looking forward to it.

Hopkins defeats the light heavyweight champion in sterling fashion and challenges Maskaev and Holyfield to a heavyweight fight. Meanwhile, Calzone is fighting tv personalities and padding his record.

It's so easy to separate the true great fighters from the wannabes.
