Ricky Hatton on BBC1 now (UK)....

-
Hatton normally enters the ring at about 160 lbs, so weighing 168 14 weeks before the fight is no big chips. -
Like I said in the other thread:
That was a rather nice interview with Hatton, joking around and being very personable as usual. I cant really see how anyone can dislike Hatton to be honest.
A few interesting bits of information.
He said that a few people had dubbed him 'Ricky Fatton', which he laughed about and said he found funny.
He said that he has always been an ugly bloke. He claimed that when he was young, his mother used to feed him with a bow and arrow.
He said that he was currently about 12 stone and that he'd be going into training within the next 2 weeks so as to give a full 12 week training schedule before the Castillo fight. Even though he claimed that the weight gain and drop doesnt harm his performance, I am glad that he hasnt ballooned as much as he has previously inbetween fights. A 2 stone weight gain is not all that bad by Hatton's standards. Shows that he is going to be taking this fight very seriously.
He said that he'd be looking to retire soon into his early 30's and that he'd be looking to have 5 or 6 fights before then. Which suggests that he's planning on keeping rather busy over the next 3 years. Which again is a good thing.
He said that upon retiring he would love to go into coaching as he feels that passing your skills and knowledge on to someone else is the next most rewarding thing to fighting yourself.
He noted that he doesnt know how fighter's parents and partners copes as he feels sick everytime he watches his brother fight.
He also rather interestingly claimed that he believed Castillo to be higher in the P4P ratings than he was. Which I'm certain is not the case, but does give an interesting insight into how seriously Hatton takes such rankings. It also gives further indication of how seriously he is planning on taking Castillo.
All in all a good interview.Leave a comment:

Ricky Hatton on BBC1 now (UK)....
Ricky Hatton is being interviewed by annoying, self-centered twit Jonathan Ross on BBC1 at the moment. He says he's 168 pounds, and he looks plain fat.
So much for maintaining his shape in the lead up to the Castillo fight. I think it may take a loss to sort out that discipline.Tags: None
