There is a common misconception abour soviet school of boxing. Soviet boxing was very diverse and every region was practicing their won style of boxing. Funny thing is that Tszyu is from Syberia but is practicing what is more southeastern style of boxing. He was especially big on it in his pro career.
So how exactly did he pick it up?
{was it from a trainer, watching others, just instincts}
it must be my lack of experience overall with the "Soviet" fighters then because most of the ones I get to see do not fight like this.
