I was suprised at how easily Hopkins shut Tito down, then knocked Tito out.Last edited by MetalVomit; 01-27-2007, 07:16 PM.Comment

Getting off topic a bit, I remember Tito calling out Roy Jones after the Joppy fight, I think it was. Tito was the man, but fighting the Jones of that time would have been crazy. Tito at middle always looked a bit out of place for me. He is good there, but cant beat the best, tho.
I still cant figure out the Winky fight...not one lead right that I can remember. I'm not saying he would have beat Winky...but to be shut out and dominated like he did was unacceptable, imo.Comment

I guess we'll never know the answer to that one. That's only your opinion. But I guess fights against Hakkar, Joppy and that other guy make more sense for his legacy and $$$, that's my opinion.
Now we're talking, do you know what was that feud all about?Comment

only my opinion my ass. the entire world saw that fight, and you will be hard pressed to find any one who has no borikua links, who has a different opinion
no. I actually mentioned it as a reason only because it is in your post.
(I know hopkins fought 3 fights times in 2 years while under don king)
The reason for which there was no rematch is because whoever made the matches for tito did not want him in the ring with Hopkins again. His dad?
my opinion... maybe?

This article is one year after the fight and well after Tito's retirement. You mean to tell me that all that time that wen't through Bernard waited to finally agree to a rematch after Tito was retired and him making probably under a mill in three fights?only my opinion my ass. the entire world saw that fight, and you will be hard pressed to find any one who has no borikua links, who has a different opinion
Really, you need to follow boxing a little closer and learn that punchers can win a fight with a single shot, not even considering coming in better prepared.

Well of course you wouldn't....... That link was a year afterwards. Just sounds funny that I heard Tito saying after his fight with Cherifi that a BHop rematch was going to be his next fight, then he retired and then that link.Comment

to summarize
you said trinidad said he wanted to fight hopkins after the cherifi fight (may 2002)
i gave you a link from an article, from a puertorican paper, from aug 2002, in which it is reported that hopkins flew to puerto rico to call out tito. tito's father said no thank you.
this happens in aug 24, 2002. 3 months and 2 weeks after tito said he was having a rematch with hopkins.
you say the article is irrelevant, bcos tito was retired by then.
I say that 3 months and 2 weeks of inactivity is not called retirement in a time where championship caliber fighter fight two times a year, three at most.Comment
