The Re-Education of the Boxing Fan

I have often wondered exactly when boxing fans stopped appreciating the sport. I mean not just them appreciating the sport itself, which many fair-weather fans truly don’t, but even ardent fans lacking the ability to truly grasp the nuances of boxing as an art-form and not just a brutal dance between two combatants. Good Article.

but there is still something about Winky's style that i do not like....

i understand he is not a brawler and all that but i just find his fights plain boring (even though i loved the trinidad fight)..

      Good article.

      I personaly like his fight.
The reason you might not like his fights because you know what ur going to get when he is in there. When he fights you know he will go 12 be very defensive.
Other fighter like oscar and floy, watching them your always looking for the left hook knockout power from oscar, or floyd to use his speed and outclass his opp. Winky fights besides the taylor on don't hold any real suspence. Maybe that's why you don't like watching him

Winky is a very predictable fighter indeed, but his style and it's effectiveness shouldn't be discredited, Basically it's not as enjoyable as Hatton's, but it still can be enjoyable.

Good writeup. You can be sure there are tons of fans out there that can respect the sport and acknowledge and respect boxers for their skills in the ring.

Sinister, I think the point is and I have seen it several times that fans would rather be critical of fighters and the support than uplifting. Boxing is truly the only sport where its fans consistently declare the participants as bums and worse. Sure there are several that claim they appreciate boxing, but then they will turn around and verbally assault a fighter.

thats true, and it really irrates me when somebody calls out a professional boxer as a coward or b*tch. Especially when that person has never even stepped in a ring or posses anything close to a professional boxer's skills.
