Rahman is a horse, I bet Briggs can lift a good amount too.
not sure how much someone weight lifts espescially bench pressing has to do with pure strength. for example people with long arms are at a disadvantage for movements such as the bench press,,yet with long arms you can get more leverage in punching,,,arm wrestling even pushing people around. for instance Im 6'3 have long arms but can only bench about 275. a freind of mine is about 5'11 same weight as me and benches 380 lbs yet in wrestling and just messing around I always push him back and toss him around. so there's different kinds of strength and Im not sure what the best method of testing pure strength would be
See the thread title is misleading because if you're going to talk functional strength it's a relevent topic to ability in the boxing ring, but a thread about which boxer claims to bench the most weight is really pretty irrelevent. It's like asking which boxer has the best handicap in golf.
Not sure about weightlighting but in terms of functional strength, Samuel Peter or Valuev with Wlad close behind. Weightlifting doesn't necessarily translate directly into boxing strength as Shane Mosley lifted much more than almost anyone his size but never struck me as exceptionally strong in the clinch.
