Great heart and guts shown by Lacy, poor decision by the referee and Lacy's corner not to stop it though, for the last couple of rounds Jeff was a punching bag and I hope it has not caused him any permanant damage either physically or mentally in the long run (psychologically)

i really do doubt after all that punishment, whether a fighter will ever be the same again. the ref was ******. slow and shouldnt be reffering title fights. he cud have got lacy killed.

That's true, and if Lacy was killed, that would be the end of boxing imo.

If Lacy was older and had taken a lot of punchers in his career I doubt he would have survived that. But Lacy was lucky he didn't get seriously hurt and I'm sure he'll be a changed fighter mentally when he returns.
If Calzaghe was a harder puncher we might have seen another Benn - McClellan incident which would be terrible for boxing.

I reckon boxing would have been banned on tv if Lacy had died... I mean after Benn-McClellan they actually were banning it in the UK on ITV for a while, if in that fight, the next big super middleweight fight, someone had died, that would be the last straw.
