Im not going to lie, i thought Lacy was gona win deep down inside! But when i saw the first round i couldnt believe it, and the rest is just history! As for the knock down, it was more of a collapse or tiredness than anything! I do have to give it to lacy, he has so much heart and hes a tough *astard!!!

I agree Jeff Lacy for all the beating he took from ding to ding of every round he still stood up. He showed incredible heart however I think sometimes a corner or ref need to save a fighter from himself. Its kinda like the Mayweather v Gotti fight, you can clearly see by the mid rounds that there is NO WAY either Gotti or Lacy were gonna, win. Corner should've stopped it for Lacy.

As for Calz,I think because of his fighting style that he has the potential to fight at an elite level for a good amount of years to come. Its the sluggers types that trade 2 for 1 i.e. Castillo, Morales, Barrera, that usually have shorter windows of "Prime fighting skills". Boxers and very technically sound boxers, especially boxers that have always utilized a good jab have a larger time span of "prime fighting skills".

Now Roy Jones is a different story, while not a slugger/pressure fighter but not really a technical fighter. Jones was more of a freaky athletic ability and reflexes. Once going up and down weight, steroids and age deteriorated those he was done. It wasnt that "his luck ran out" as some have said its just that his altheticisim and reflexes once gone, he didnt have that technical boxing ability to fall back on. Although I think he still had excellent athlectic ability left but unless he becomes more technical then he is done.

It was part of Jeff being tired and a push...I thought..

Clearly a fall, however if you look carefully at the second time Lacy hit the deck (the actual count being the third) he was knocked down as Calzaghe hits him and he fall forward into calzaghe making it look like a push.

Great fight, I travelled up to Manchester to support Joe as he is a local boy to me (trains in Abercarn where i work). I think he is as good as any other fighter about pound for pound, but then i am biased.

Before the clinch which led to Lacy falling down, he was taking a barrage of punches, and nearly got topped over, but he still hadn't got his head back together by the time of it and fell, so it was half knockdown, half fall IMO.

It was a long time ago so i cant really remember the punch that fell Lacy. It didnt seem that hard as i recall so he probably fell out of tiredness and taking one too many shots. But although it was an easy win for Joe, punching Lacy that many times was seriously tiring. I mean, even if you punch a heavy bag that many times your going to get tired.

I would say it was the best fight of the year. Lacy is a hell of a fighter. He wouldn't have been where he was if not. I have become a big Joe C. fan and so has my dad. We both just watched with our mouth wide open. I look for Joe C. to be the best in his class hands down. He has the power, the determination, and damn that man can punch for 30rds. He creates angles, works his jab, and is very hard to hit the way he moves. I would put my money on him against anyone you throw at him. Thats my opinion.

                    Definitely a knockdown

Push? if a man falls over that easy from a push just think what a real punch would have done! It was a knock down based on a cumulative effect of the number of punches Lacy absorbed.
This was Jeff's first real test, he may have lost, but he passed the test of heart. He needs to get back in the gym, digest the film of this fight and look at the areas he needs to improve. This kid has no where to go, but up, or out, I am betting on his going up.

Great heart and guts shown by Lacy, poor decision by the referee and Lacy's corner not to stop it though, for the last couple of rounds Jeff was a punching bag and I hope it has not caused him any permanant damage either physically or mentally in the long run (psychologically)
Totally Agree with u their Lacy has got some chin all this bull**** aboout "Calsaghe SLaps" he might slap but he slaps HARD , funny watching Shaw in the front row he was sweating after round1 , Dan birmingham should ave stopped it tho getting destoryd like tht can "KILL" boxers in the HEAD!,
