Carl Froch?

Watched yesterdays friday fight night. Carl froch fought some bum. How good is he, as a prospect? He looked terrible last night, but this is my first fight i have of him. How good is he?

And does anybody think he bears a uncanny resemblance to Mashiba from HnI? Same look, same style.

froch needs to put his feet back on the ground, if he goes into the fight against magee like he did yesterday hes going to get knocked out in round 1, he can be brilliant at times however i have a better defense than him and ive never boxed.

Yeah he'll need to buck up his ideas if he's gonna fight Magee like that.

Froch is a good fighter but its his ****y approach to each fight that puts me off him, if he got down to business and stopped trying to look flashy he would be dangerous, not sure his ego will let him though?

That Westerman guy was strong though but he should have boxed his head off and took a late stoppage unscathed!

I'm from Nottingham so should want Froch to do well. In fact I think he's an arrogant twat that's one to two fights away from being KTFO.

He is that arrogant that he thinks he doesnt need a defense. He believes his reflexes are good enough, but as Westerman showed last night, they clearly aren't. He thinks he's Roy Jones but the only thing he shares with Roy is that at this stage if his career he has fought no one. Brian Magee will knock him out, IMO. It makes me laugh when he talks about fighting the winner of Calzaghe/Lacy. Both of those would have knocked Westerman out in about half a second, he would have had absolutely no ****ing chance of making it to round two let alone round nine with those two. And the same is true of Froch. If he were to fight either Joe or Jeff, he would be KTFO in about a round.

It doesnt have to be like this though. He could lose the attitude a bit and gain a defence. Keep his hands up and take his opponents seriously and give them respect. But this won't happen, unfortunately, and we will soon be seeing the end of the Cobra.

Not necessarily, I agree he's a dislikable twat and arrogant to the point of annoyance (whereas Ali could be amusing), but he has displayed potential. His power is good, probably level with or better than Joe Calzaghe's, but his defense is a disgrace. He seriously needs to work on it, and then he'll be a title contender. The fight last night took a bit of my faith but I still think with training on his defensive moves he may pull through.

Magee is a 7/10 (world scale of course) fighter who'll really test Froch. If Magee wins i'll discard Froch as hype, but if he beats Magee then he's undeniably *good* and I'll say he could pose a threat to the winner of Lacy Calzaghe (he really needs to buck up his ideas for this, however). I think his arrogance is either a gorgeous george emulation like that of Ali or Naseem Hamed, or he's just naturally a braggadocios ******. Magee has lost some important fights but is still a talented fighter with a good record. Also he's got a good chin, he can definitely take Froch's power shots IMO, as he's never been stopped or KOed.

However, despite all the good things I've said about Froch, being from Belfast I hope Magee knocks the balls out of him. If Froch goes in like he did last night, he's in for a rough night and a loss. His decent chin may mean it'll be a UD/SD.

Magee should give him a good solid fight, and at least give him a reasonable fight. maybe a few questions should be answered in that fight.
