Dwight Muhammed Qawi has to be up there with the best, At age 25 gets learnt a bit in jail, then goes to Joe Fraziers gym trains there for around a month then turns pro ''NO AMATURE EXPRIENCE'' draws wins and loses his first 3, then goes on a 18 fight win streak including wins over Mike Rossman,James Scott, tko'd Matthew Saad Muhammad x2, Eddie Davis, .and in them wins becomes WBC light heavyweight champion and then loses to the great Michael Spinks in a highly anticapted fight. Then goes up to the cruiserweight division wins a world title in that division from unbeaten Piet Crous, defends it against amature golds medalist Leon Spinks stops him in 6, then has one of the most brutal tear ups you will ever see against future hall of famer Evander Holyfield and loses in a razor sharp decision. After all this Qawi best days were behind him, Stopped in 4 in the rematch by Holyfield, then up to heavyweight were the come backing George Foreman destroyed him with size and strengh and carried on to lose to second rate fighters. What a career for a man who never laced the gloves on till 25, and was 5′ 5½″ Light Heavyweight/Cruiserweight/Heavyweight.

yep, i totally agree with everything you have written, amateur backgrounds dont mean everything, i think especially in this day an age as amateur boxing is getting like different sports, also quawi and holyfeild was one of the best fights ever, toe to toe from the beginning to end, absolute great fighter, and yep billy conn the great light heavy who moved up and was outboxing joe louis until he got to brave and got stopped late, and jose luis ramirez had a fantastic punch!..had an ex world champ training him if i remember correctly..
