Of course, this is boxing & anything could have happened had the fight gone on but Lewis landed the big punches that opened the big cut & the fight was rightly stopped in Lewis's favour.

Edit to say: All three judges had Vitali up 4-2 in rounds so are they all wrong or right? You're using the judges to back you up but then disagreeing with their scoring. You had scored it 5-1 to Vitali.
Don't bother taansend. Vitali is white and Lewis is black, unfortunately that's all slimshandy see's when he watches boxing.

      Stracey against Napoles been mentioned?

That's up there, I would say.

Napoles passed his best but still a great win for Stracey whilst defying the odds.

Yeah I threw that in there. I don't like to pass up and opportunity to mention Stracey. He isn't as well known or acknowledged as I feel he should be amongst British fight fans.

I've got quite a few friends who follow boxing and when I've spoke about him they haven't known who he is, which is a shame because he's a gentlemen and a credit to the sport.

That was the best atmosphere at a win by a British boxer abroad.

Fine post, and i agree with everything you say about John H..
Was and Is a great credit to the sport..
People tend to forget, he beat Napoles in intense humidity at 6000 ft above sea level..
Jose was Cuban, but Mexico City was his home town.
Past prime or not, to beat and stop an atg in those conditions, infront of tens of thousands of screaming Mexicans.. Was, some achievement!

I concur that these three (actually four as you could include Buchanan Laguna II also) should be on the list, all certainly better than Froch Bute I think.

A story I have about Stracey; A few years ago when I met Jake Lamotta at a sit down dinner event, John H Stracey was conducting the interview and Lamotta was treating him with very little respect, not sure if intentionally, I'm not sure he knew who he was but John was getting very very frustrated with Lamotta.

In Lamotta's defence, he didn't really seem all there. He's certainly on his last legs. The guy was falling asleep during his meal haha, was amazing to hear some stories from him though.

Stracey is a real nice guy, one of the nicest guy's I've met in Boxing. Good singer too.

I know a few West Ham boys that claim to know Stracey. No one has a bad word to say about him & I know he & Ray Leonard always stayed in touch.
