Looking forward to tonight too. Love some friday night boxing.
I think Euro level is about right for Rebrasse. Still the best Smith has fought and a good comparison to Groves

This post is gonna look like it came out of nowhere as Ive mostly shown support for our Callum, but a lot of this has been bubbling under the surface for a while:

First of all tough fight. Rebrasse is very solid, all credit too him. Not just his ability to take a punch but the fact he would always instantly come back with shots of his own.

Starting to get frustrating how little development I've seen from Callum since I started this thread. He's very much the same fighter, same combinations, same flaws. All well and good having learning fights, but if you dont improve then whats the point?

Serious work needed if he wants to reach were he is expected to go. He needs to learn to dominate the center of the ring. He's 6'3 with a 78" reach and he's languishing on the ropes? Why? Sort it out.

Body shots are still good, but his technique to the head is pony, and he doesnt seem to have the accuracy or timing to hit his opponents face consistently with power. The setups to his body shots are becoming very predictable too. Where are the feints? Sort it out.

Defensively head movement is lacking, and as i said before he is too easily backed into the ropes. He doesnt really role with shots and his only counter out of the high guard is that left hook, which often misses. Sort it out.

A lot of these flaws were also evident in his fights with Biosse and even as far back as Acosta. Why haven't they been working on them?

If I was Hearn I would not be moving Smith up anywhere near World Level yet. Rebrasse was a Euro level fighter, this level is clearly one that Callum hasnt graduated from.

Maybe harsh, but I liked his style when he first came on the scene, since then my goodwill has been eroded. I'd like to see him tour some American gyms and get advice from other trainers. Gallagher has connections with Wild Card I think. Get him out there. Let him have a spar, get some tips and try to bring this guy along. Because its all starting to get a bit stale in my opinion. The technique on the body shots is the only world class feature he's showing me at the moment.

Depends on if he has the British chin.

I think you are being very harsh. Groves could not stop rebrasse froch I don't think could and andre ward certainly would not stop rebrasse

Smith been pro 2.5 years and very nearly stopped rebrasse . I think he should have one more fringe level fight then he should fight winner of groves degale.that's if groves wins.

He will beat Fielding but I am not sure he is ready to go further yet. I don't think he is anything special. Definitely needs to work long and hard on his defense if he is to go to the next level not that he has been hit a lot but he is very upright and certainly lacks upper body movement.

They need to slow him down and let him develop, I wouldn't put him anywhere near George Groves anytime soon despite Groves looking vulnerable as of late.

I dont care if he doesnt stop him, I gave credit for REbrasse's toughness, just that he doesnt seem to be improving as a fighter.

It might seem harsh because I got all of my ranting off in one post but they are talking about Smith fighting Groves, Degale and the like. He needs to improve in my opinion to be in the same sentence as those guys.

In my opinion Callum Smith would pick Rocky Fielding apart and would likely beat George Groves, who seems shot after the whupping Froch gave him. People act like it's a foregone conclusion Groves is going to beat Badou Jack but I am far from convinced.

Arthur Abraham vs. Callum Smith? That fight is perfect for him and would get him a title. Also, this Chudinov fellow fighting Frank Buglioni for a world title? Really? Buglioni wouldn't last two rounds with Callum or Fielding.

The fact is that the current champions will not voluntarily face a rising star like Callum Smith. Too much to lose and not enough to gain right now. I am sure we'll see him in a couple more 'final eliminator' type fights, which won't do his development any harm.

Last night he answered a lot of questions and looked very impressive doing so.

With at least 4 world title belts up for grabs he could well win one .let's be honest though you don't always have to be at the top of you're weight class to be called champ . After watching last night I think smith should stay clear of a fight with fielding

Callum is painfully average, so is Gallagher's whole stable really. Rebrasse is tough and then what? At the end of the day he is "just that". Somebody with good foot work would be a nightmare for this kid.

Rocky Fielding is another average fighter. The Vera stoppage isn't surprising. We have to realize the miles the guy had accumulated and coming off of two losses.

I want to see him against german prospect Vincent Feigenbutz. Both have power, both are Young, both have flaws but it would be a great fun-fight.
