The boxing school of cuba and the ex URSS is based in amateurboxing, other countries are based in profecional boxing

Boxing is part of Cuban Culture.

Lads are chosen from an early age for development and train like professionals from a young age. There is a great documentary on Youtube that follows some young Cubans through their training - Have a search for it, it's great!!!

Also, instead of turning pro in their early 20's many of them continue to box as an amateur till their early 30's. In many cases you have very experienced 27-30 year old Cubans boxing 18-24 year old amateurs from the rest of the world.

they're not allowed to box proffessionally so I guess they put all their effort into the amateurs.
