It's a form of discrimination that these damaged ex-boxers are deprived of the right to earn a living. Especially when there is a massive groundswell of support for a "Cabbage Fights" type of tournament.

Perhaps these unfunny, unclassy comments about him fighting in ''cabbage fights'' and such are bait comments but until you have somebody close to you in that situation, i wouldnt say anything because like i always say...
...What goes around, comes around.
All that aside, great, deep and sad documentary.Last edited by Cloud; 12-06-2011, 07:32 AM.

In regards to the dogfighting, everybody makes mistakes in their life, but you would think someone in their late 20's would have matured by then. Can't blame the referee, there is a lot of pressure on them, If he stopped the fight in the first round he probably would have been black listed by Warren/ King, maybe not so much King as it G-Man was his fighter.
The dog fighting is something I read about a few years ago, the Labrador story is particularly disturbing. If anyone is to blame I would say it is Gerald himself and to some degree his trainer himself, dumping Manny was a mistake and agreed with what he said, if he was his trainer that night the tragedy wouldn't have never happened; you get what you pay for and if you pay for Stan Johnson to guide you in such a crucial bout then it was no surprise that he was unable to handle such an occasion. Felt bad for Benn, the steroid accusations are somewhat damaging and is a shame that he wasn't tested after the fight as this could have helped dispel any doubts. Ultimately the blame is on G-Man & it should be a lesson for any up and coming fighter, having an experienced and worthy trainer comes at a price but it can end up saving your life and ensure that you will live to fight another day.

I 100% agree, what went around, came around for Gerald.
I just think he deserves some kind of redemption. Imagine his arm being lifted aloft in the ring by his sister, as Michael Buffer raises the rafters with, "...and the....NEW...CBA (Cabbaged Boxers Association)...Champion of the WOOOOOOORLD...Gerald....THE G-MAAAAAAAAN....MCLELLAN!!!"
Not a dry eye in the house.

Stan Johnson...man lost most of his fights by KO IIRC....id never hire that man.
Ive read about the ''dog feeding'' incident and i always think...how dangerous was Gerald McClellan out of the ring?
Ive read a few things about him killing flamingos (i think) in Florida by running them over and he shot a dog in the head when it lost a dog fight.
All that aside, i dont believe anyone deserves to suffer what the G-Man has suffered over the years.
I thought it was ridiculous when Kevin Saunders said that Gerald was wrapping his own hands for the Benn fight because his team didnt know how to....good god.

It would seem that God disagreed with you, and delivered Benn's British Bombs™ to right these wrongs.
I wonder how often the G-Man's family have to fumigate/burn his sofa?
