  • Ugh Chavez Jnr bate Duddy around im sad to say, but what really annoyd me was Bob Arum at the end, he wants to sell out Madison Square Garden in New York for Duddy vs Yuri Foreman. WHY WOULD HE DO THAT WHEN HE COULD SELL OUT CROKER FOR TWICE AS MUCH FOR DUDDY VS ANDY LEE!!

          • Duddy Fight Report

John Duddy 'Destroyed' by Chavez Jr

Ireland’s John Duddy 29-2 (KO 1) and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr 41-0-1 (KO 30) fought the fight of their lives as Chavez Jr confounded his critics and break the heart of 1,000’s of Irish fight fans by demolishing the ‘Derry Destroyer’ over twelve rounds to retain his unbeaten record and collect the WBC Silver middleweight title in front on a packed Alamodome, in San Antonio, Texas on June 27.

Cesar Chavez Jr has the unenviable tasks of attempting to fill the shoes of his three weight world champion father and all round Mexican icon Julio Snr, but unlike many before him, the son has shown heart in his latest effort to match the achievements of the father and did not wilt under the pressure of the dogged and determined Irishman.

Duddy came into the fight as heavy underdog. Few fancied the New York based fighter's chances of getting a decision at the Alamodome and pointed the Cesar Chavez family’s close association with the WBC organisation and the fight between Cesar Chavez Jr’s father and Pernell Whitaker almost 17 years ago at the very same venue. Many ringside observers felt that Whitaker was robbed of the WBC welterweight title when the fight was judged a draw which meant JCC Snr retained his long unbeaten record.

              • Poor Duddy the man has the heart and chin. It is a shame his defence has gone to **** over the years. Great to look at all action fight but he takes too much at times. Be interesting to see where he goes after that fight.
