      What sparring stories?
Holyfield apparently was whooping Tyson into a corner during the Olympics (they were both in losers bracket at the time). Tyson couldn't get out of the corner as well and the trainers stopped it, not wanting either fighter to get hurt. Tyson was 17 and Evander was 21, which I why I said when I take this into account, it's "to a small degree". This just adds on to the fact that IMO, Tyson always struggled with Holyfield who can push him back. It's like he always knew the blueprint to beat him.

Holyfield confirms this directly from his mouth in a YouTube video.

U great has zer0 title defenses and not only ducked the Wlad rematch, but repeated offers to fight AJ for more $ than he'd been making.

Biggest duck when AJ made his American debut when no Americans could be found that weren't drug cheats or light in the loafers preferring to fight each other for peanuts on the dollar.

No bigger Fury fan than me, but since Wlad 1.0 he's soiled hisself as a fighting man of the people, going after the weakest links and low hanging fruit.

Best be careful or he'll pick U next!!!

        • Tyson from 1986-1988 would have handled Holyfield.

Holyfield has pretty much everything that is needed to beat Tyson and then some. Holyfield is an incredibly well rounded fighter while Tyson is incredibly one dimensional.

There's various ways to beat Tyson. You have to put him on the backfoot, not let him set up his combo's, nullify him on the inside, fight dirty and bully him etc.. You have to have attributes like heart, chin, stamina, grappling strength etc. Evander has all of this in abundance.

The Cus style is a one trick pony. It's flashy stuff, designed for front runners who happen to be genetic freaks. All that taxing, fancy movement that Tyson fans are so high on is only there in the early to middle part of the fight at most. By then the opponent has to be ko'd already or way behind on point. Tyson always fades and gets frustrated. Maybe two of his many ko's resulted in LATE stoppages for a reason.

It's an overrated style, it's not going to beat the all time great heavyweights. Cus trained tons and tons of young men to become boxers for many decades. How many of those truly became great fighters with his style? Tyson, Torres, Patterson. Two of those happen to be two of the biggest genetic freaks HW's we've seen. Almost everybody puts Tyson & Patterson in the top 3 fastest HW's ever. They were destined for great things regardless of the old man.

What else did Cus produce with that overrated style? Not much. It's one dimensional, it's taxing, it has a short lifespan.
Totally agree. I even think others could have trained Tyson better - given the relationship was able to work.
