This makes absolutely no sense. Holyfield was both more washed up as a fighter and at a worse stage in his career.

Tyson had been collecting belts and looking great. There was no indication that he was no good. You say that now in hindsight.

Evander had taken a ton of damage in the Bowe trilogy and was coming off a bad showing against Czyz, stopped against Bowe looking awful against Moorer & Stewart, just highly inconsistent for his worth and considering retirement due to health problems.

You think nobody remembers that era? Everybody knows excactly the reasons Tyson/King even took the Holyfield fight at that time.

Holyfield was the one that had to overcome all that psychological and physical adversity, not the protected golden goose Tyson.

good wins but not ATG. You couldn't use those wins to understand where Holyfield ranks, where as Leonard vs Hearns 1 you could (atg win).
100% ATG wins which everyboxing historian worth anything acknowledges. Those fights represent exactly how their fight would have went if they fought years before in their primes.

Because Tyson had already been koed by Douglas
Because he wasn't as good as Tyson fanboys think he is.

and layed off due to Prison
Again, zero indication that Tyson was no good. He looked great beating the same level of fighters he beat in his first reign as champ. It was a full-contact layoff from boxing, he didn't sit on his ass in his cell all day. He trained and continued training boxing in there and it was a layoff in his mid 20s, it's a highly overstated issue. He wasn't peak prime but still close to his best and beating him the way Holyfield did was ATG worthy.

That's just the convenient hindsight excuse his fans use, and I think it's hilarious, them apples, that you have tried to exclude yourself from that notorious group as if you're any different. Because everything you're saying right now is parrotted from them.

Was Tyson carefully managed? The Tillis fight early in his career showed that he would have trouble with good boxers. The Douglas loss as it turned out was not as shocking as it seemed to be. It is difficult to consider someone an all time great without a longer "prime". The story of pitcher Dwight Gooden is another example. Unhittable for a few seasons but a considerable drop off soon after. Where does Tyson rank all time? Difficult to say but certainly not top 10.

        - -Luverly!

Sorta like Banks and Cooper showed how Ali
        Has problems with good punchers!

Tillis at least was a contender.

        Thanks...

Tillis had lost 4 of his previous 5 fights, including a loss to Marvis Frazier. Tyson was expected to walk through him and won 6 rounds to 4 on two of the cards. Tillis was a fringe contender at best at that point. What was his most notable win before the Tyson fight? Or after the Tyson fight for that matter? Thanks.....

Earnie Shavers. BTW- He was in the best shape in his career for the tyson fight since he had health problems early in his career. While Tyson wasnt even a 8 round fighter.

                - -Tyson was 19 yrs old and not knocked down by a novice(Banks) nor by an aging fighter having to wear weights to clear 174 lbs(Cooper) and needing illegal smelling salts(Dundee) or the tearing of a glove(Dundee) to buy time.

And Tyson knocked down the running Tillis.

U keep digging a bigger hole for yourself and Ali.

You are such a halfwit that everything you say has already been debunked but you just carry on as usual. Everyone knows by now that Dundee split no glove. Doesn't matter to you. That is why you are, have been and ever will be a registered, thoroughbred dummy.
