  • Boxers' Tired Cliches

I wait for the most well worn cliches now, so I can guffaw. It is part of the fun of the sport now. Boxers are generally so weak verbally. Creatures of cliche. Some boxers cannot lay off certain phrases. How many times have you heard boxers refer to

1 Taking their hat off to someone?
2 At the end of the day?
    3 My Team?

These may be the champs of well-wornness, but then maybe not. Which am I forgetting to mention?

The Mayweathers all seem to start an answer with”My thing is this....”

“Styles make fights” is getting old and is annoying AF

And then there’s that thing ppl do that sounds weird. It’s like they name drop known fighters names but add an “s”. They say soon enough we’ll fight the Miguel Cottos, the Canelos the Moseleys. I always thought that was annoying

The catch-all cliche response to being KO'd:

"He caught me with a good shot."

Meanwhile, the winning fighter's cliche is either:

"First of all I must thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ..."

            or "All power to ALLAH!!!!"

For a change, how about trying The Old Lefthook line instead: "I won, by buggery!"

              "We . . ."

I like it when managers stand next to their fighters and speak in first person plural, as if they actually took a punch or two as well.
