He won a few completive fights, Smith, Tucker, and Green.

But what about Ruddock, you don't think those were tough fights.

No doubt he did indeed come up short on several tough fights.
    - - Yup, and Mike on his worst day sedated with experimental psychiatric Xanax/Zoloft like a zombie had the KO of Buster in his pocket that got picked by the sloppy ref with his infamous 14 second long count. See what Mike's hero Dempsey suffered vs Tunney.

The biggest question I always have when two super powerful punchers like Liston and Mercer are put against one another is whether they’ll play it too safe because they’re wary of each other’s power or will we get Foreman vs Lyle type of slugfest?

        - - Neither were out and out sluggers.

Liston was a boxer/puncher and Mercer was just a muscly thug who had basic boxing skills.

I think slugger is still a better descriptor for both of them. Sure they have a little bit more skill than the stereotypical slugger, but they’re similar enough to that title that I feel comfortable calling them that. You don’t have to have ZERO technique or craft to be called a slugger. Just less than the other other three categories.

This is actually an excellent point. Liston could punch with the best of them. BUT he was not a fighter that oriented his approach to using a big punch to finish. He was a skilled boxer and perhaps the best finisher @ heavyweight. Its easy to assume he was a puncher because he was such a great finisher. But the way he finished his opponents was usually punches in bunches with a great jab on the front end. As opposed to Foreman, or Louis who set opponents up for a finishing punch.

Liston on the other hand fought the full 10 rounds against Marty Marshall with a broken jaw. Plus a few wars with Machen, Clark, Williams.
Another dumb follower mike won tough fights and thinking doesn't mean anything son on vid didn't have better skill then ray he was slower and basic and easy to read how is that better try watching matches idiot

Sometimes the better fighter doesn't always win. Ray can take any punch from anyone. if I have to question a fighter's heart then he cannot be a great champion. Let's remember it was Holyfield who was the shot fighter. He loss 2 of his last four fights one of them was by KO. the fight came down to will. Who wanted it more. in the rematch Tyson was looking for a way out so he fouls Holyfield 2 times. That's a great champion? You would have to kill Ali or Marciano to take there title. Tyson gives it up like a girl on prom night

                  - - More like you don't understand the context of timeline development.

Mike cleaned out the smoke and mirrors DKing era of ABC champs to become the youngest and richest prizefighting champ in history...FACT!

Vander was still in the little boy division and Lewie still in 3 round diaper fights. Mike develops a certified mental illness that leaves many of the populace dead, behind bars, and otherwise ***********al in the public spaces, but he gets the latest experimental sedatives like you got the latest experimental vaccine to survive somewhat intact. Vander notorious for headbutts, so Mike one upped him on the fouling. Mills Lane dropped the ball on the officiating as Mike should've been DQed with first bite, but hey-ho, this be boxing where new rules are made up on the spot to replace old rules not being enforced.

Keep them betting lines open for as long as possible
