Triple G vs Carter would be a puncher's match between similarly sized fighters. Triple G is probably not a guy who would have to fight heavier in an earlier era, like Daniel Jacobs and many others would have to. A good number of today's boxers flat could not make the limit under the old system and still win their fights. I have the feeling triple G could make middleweight under any era's requirements.
If we held a middleweight tourney with a same-day weight requirement, he might very well make top 10 AT in that tournament. But if the requirements were those of today he would be a lot less likely to land in the top 10 of middleweights.
Ahem! Of course you will notice that the same statement can be made about any champion able to easily make the limit under yesteryear's strictures.

Carter couldn't even do that.
I am pretty sure Giardello was the inspiration for the microwave. He really could go from scalding hot to nothing almost fight to fight. And a lot of times it was at the wrong time.

See. You do have your moments.
I agree. Golovkin wouldn't struggle make weight same day. He'd be hell for a lot of fighters. He'd probably really ruin some very good guys. Hagler, for example. Maybe Gene, too.
