  • How good was Harry Simon?

I see that he won a 154 lb world title by beating Winky Wright back in 1998. Made 4 defenses then went on to win a 160 lb world championship at middleweight as well.

Stayed undefeated but his career got derailed by a serious car crash and the resulting injuries plus jail time.

His record stands at 31-0 with 23 KOs.

    - -Much arbitrary spec about Simon, but considering Winky's no show against Sam Solomon in what was considered a showpiece for his challenge to Taylor's belt, Simons win was a legit victory that would've had TUE Mayweather ducking him like he did Winky.

Only so much an untouted Arican can do.

Come on Queenie, how can you call that a legit victory? It was a draw, and almost an hour later they announced one judge had added his cards wrong by 3 rounds. It was a close right, but that is a ****ty way to lose or win a title.

As far as how good Simon was. I this Mastrangelo summer it up pretty well.

Judges adding up grade school scorecards wrong just part and parcel of how boxing operates it's shell game.

Here Stinky gets Simons national identity wrong.

It happens all the time in boxing. Little Sam Solomon tossed a 1001 paper cuts on the stinker in what was supposed to be his showcase fight for his middle challenge.

Had Sam been American, it'd have been a masterclass.

No matter, stinker ain't gonna be on my revisit of good and great fights. Sam still active btw, but his end is near if not already.

If social media was around then, they would have been toast.
