Why do people, including some authors continue on with this.
You can easily see the punch on yt. Furthermore you can see the effect on Liston's head.

The other big lie is that, it's then used to proclaim the fight was fixed by--take your pick: Mob, NOI, other.
I think the KD was genuine, and then Liston could have gotten up. Ali sure wanted him to. But Walcott did a terrible job as ref. The #1 thing is to get the one who did the KD to a neutral corner asap. The timekeeper's got the count.
Walcott leaves them with Ali standing over Liston and goes to the timekeeper. Liston may have realized it was prudent not to try to get up with Ali about to hit him again.
You could make a case for a no decision based on ref's incompetence.
