--- Blame Oscar and boxing for keeping Popkins propped up in ratings and dubious decisions.

He was the bogus "lineal and Ring champ" and Roy ranked# 5, both continuously for years.

Moreover Popkins paid a $2mil judgement to Dibella after refusing big money fights against Joe a the the Roy rematch years earlier and Joe was clearly at the end of his broken hands lifetime.

    In short, yer outta order!

I could just as easily blame Calzaghe for not being willing to leave the UK to fight in the states while those guys were closer to their prime. I frankly don't care what the excuse is.

The simple fact is that I'm not giving Joe any credit for beating corpses.

--- Corpses American boxing keeps propped up for milking.

Corpses whose candy asses were too larded in the states to fight internationally.

Warren controlled UK boxing with rapid fire lawsuits anytime a fighter left him for lucre in the states. No different than DKing or Doc Kearns who attached every earnings by Jack Dempsey for years that played a role in killing the Wills fight.

Mikey Garcia sacrificed near 3years to get out if his Arum contract as a recent example.

Tim Bradley and TCrawford traveled to dethrone tough and Tricky Brits for better lucre than at Home.

I like real fighters willing to take a chance, not hometown ninnys swaddled by their promoter though some fighters were never given the opportunity to fly the coup.

When you’re sparring with someone who knows what he is doing and all of a sudden he becomes deadly serious it’s pretty frightening.

Interesting, if incorrect, perspective on the "Americans". Jones wasn't propped up. By the time he fought Calzaghe he had lost 3 of his last 6 and his last knockout was 6 years prior. What was propped up? Hopkins had lost 2 of 4 and was 43. How was he propped up? Both guys were still boxing because they loved the sport, not because they were top tier anymore. I suppose someone could argue that BHop was still top tier but no one would argue he was in his prime - and Calzaghe barely got the MD against a middle-aged man. Nobody thought that Jones was anywhere within shouting distance of his prime and Calzaghe should have been embarrassed to take on Jones at that stage of his career.

I also like fighters to take a chance which is why I have little respect for Calzaghe. He never did. Excuses be damned about his promoter, he just took on no-names until he took on has-beens.

--- Both Ring and boxrec ranked Popkins and Roy in the top 5.

Popkins ducked both after he beat Tito. Don't matter what you drink, thems the facts and Roy had already moved to LH.

                  Brian Sutherland for sure.

To share the ring with that luxurious mullet would be an absolute honour.

He's not an ATG, but I would love to take a few swipes at Marciano. I know for a fact he's leaving bubbled up.

Marciano was the real deal. Superbly conditioned, determined, tough as nails and a KO puncher with either fist. A harder puncher than Joe Louis....that’s very hard.
