I don't know, what the criteria is for "decent". There has never been a world champion with 100 defeats (Johnny Dundee comes closest with 73), but of course you can be a decent fighter without ever capturing a world crown.
There have been several dozen boxers with at least 100 losses... and of these only 2 retired with a winning record:
George Marsden 195-101-40
Bill McDowell 163-102-25-1NC
If you manage 195 wins during a pro career... well, then I guess you must be a pretty decent fighter!
lol dude just also had to say on another subject your post touches upon...these guys probably fought once a week!
Yeah, I'm amazed. These creatures can only be heavy duty masochists. I can understand it, though, if a man would like to get his 13th win. They cannot be making much money. It must be pride. Sure, that's it. Fighting pride. Building a legacy and going for records.

Actually I think money is entirely the motivation, I think they can make a fair bit from how often they fight.
I guess it's good for some extra money, like Happy Gilmore where the guy takes home money even though he was nowhere to be found on the leader board or Here Comes The Boom, where even if losing, the teacher still raised money for his school music program.
Can't think of anyone to do it since YBC but Harold Brazier reached 100 wins in the 90s, as did Marty Jakubowski who was 110-5 he fought JCC, who was on over 100 wins by then. Later the same year Chavez fought Buck Smith who was on 181 wins. I can't think of any fights involving 2 guys with 100+ wins since.
I assumed YBC retired years ago but according to boxrec he had a fight in January this year and 2 in 2015. Still a couple of decades from overtaking Buck Smith at that rate.
