I think tyson fought a better set of fighters than Holmes. I think Bruno and Shavers are alike, but with bruno having a better chin And shavers having a better punch. Thomas, Holmes, Bruno, Ruddock, Biggs, tucker and Spinks (who holmes lost to twice) were all good fighters. As for Johnson, i am still un decided on whether he fought a better set of opponents.

Hi Iron, prehaps I should clarify something: I don't hate Tyson, but I hate his rabid nut hugging fans. More in general I dislike the nuthugger set for ANY fighter. I can't stand the Marciano nut huggers either (and there are a lot of them!). The reason for my intense dislike is that they don't think they FEEL: Everything the say is governed by an emotional reaction NOT from the use of the intellect. This is opposed to "normal" fans who actually think!

You're mention of Bruno is interesting because I like Bruno a lot and tend to think more highly of him then most people I talk to. Spinks is also an interesting case because in the first fight he beat (barely) an out of shape an out of shape and unmotivated Holmes and in the second he LOST to Holmes and was given a gift decision. Against Tyson he entered the ring looking for a soft place to lay down. Of the others you mentioned, Biggs was NOT a world class fighter and should never have been allowed a title shot. Thomas WAS a good fighter but was in and out rehab at the time of the Tyson fight and in no way resembled his former self. Holmes was clearly past it and coming off a two year layoff with no tune-ups and he STILL made Tyson look foolish at times in that fight. Ruddock I like but I understand his limitations. Actually Tyson impressed me more in the Ruddock fights than any of his fights as champion. I thought he put on a helluva a performance against Razor both times, and Ruddock acquitted himself quit well too.

As for Johnsons opposition go to BoxRec.com and print it out or make a copy. Look for the guys Johnson fought before he lifted the title from Burns: Many of them are the great black fighters from that era. These are by all accounts truly great fighters who no one knows about because they couldn't get passed the color barrier.

Listen up Douche Bag. I'm most likely older than you are. To put it in perspective I was around for the Ali - Frazier - Foreman fights; so yeah, obviously I was around for Tyson. A tomato can is just that: A no-hoper any fighter with an ounce of talent is SUPPOSED to beat and look good doing it. Looking sensational only counts when you do it against the best fighters out there. The problem you Tyson nut huggers have is you don't think with anything more than your half-rotted gonads. You get your jollies over quick KOs against nothing fighters. As for missing a point, you HAVE no point beyond being a fan-boy for your hero: The only points being made were made by me. I have no use at all for blind fandom, and Tyson testicle tuggers are the worst offenders out there (although the Mayweather crowd is getting close). You may have been entertained by Tyson: Fair enough. But do NOT confuse entertainment value with greatness: There's no relation between the two. So carry your little nuthugging fan-boy bootie somewhere else where someone of your intellect might feel more at home: A Seseme Street forum should be just right. Please leave these forums to people who are thinkers first, fans second.

The only people that may be laughing are the Tyson fanatics that lack the wit to understand any post that doesn't include the formula "prime" Tyson = The Best Ever. Bottom line is you're a fan boy not an intelligent analyst of boxing. I have no doubt you spend quite a bit of your time pulling your pud over Tyson highlight videos.

I watched Tyson's rise with interest, probably before his adoring fans even caught on about him. Before he even fought Tillis I was analyzing his strengths and weaknesses. I already had a book on him and could often tell what he was going to do before he did it. Point is I watched fights as a boxing historian would and I've never allowed myself to be rabid about any fighter. I prefer to use my head not my emotions in looking at fighters. You, on the other hand, seem incapable of divorcing your emotional ******s from any comments about boxing and your posts are nothing more than spastic expressions of your emotional attachments and have no real connection to such notions as "sense" or even "common sense".

Maybe one day you'll find your brains cells and stop "thinking" with your gonads, but until then you really should stop making posts that are little more than ejaculations over your "hero".

I lost interest a bit and don't come in here too often. I've become a bit of a twat and post bait threads and **** about in the dome. It's pointless getting worked up and I suspect most people are just trying to wind you up, so I just do the same. This site has dragged me down to their level and I need to rise above it.

Poet, i was only messin wen i said you hate tyson!. I think if you match up tysons prime opposition against Holmes' theres is not much difference. And even when tyson fought holmes he went on to win a fair few more fights against decent(ish) opposition, and he was KOd against tyson, something Shavers (a harder puncher) couldnt do. I will have a deeper look at Johnsons opposition tho!
