I would say duran, he was more skilled and a better defender on the inside.. Armstrong was less refined, and a bit more crude. More of a mauler on the inside as opposed to being a surgeon

very good point I have observed where duran when stunned by the larger barkley would revert to inside to clear his head and use defensive techniques to avoid further punishment while still scoring with short effective punches.

Duran I would say....I've never seen a boxer to this day slip and ride so many inside shots the punches just seemed to glance over him as if he was made of grease...the way he switched from head to body was ncredible and he could land on you and at the same time you would miss...just look at him the leonard fight ..he was relentless but he still made a world class boxer miss time and time again...even when he boxed Barclay he broke him down inside....incredible fighter ...Armstrong was also perpetual motion inside and ws like a Tasmanian devil but it's hard to judge when there is hardly any video of him...what is saw if hm was he was slightly more wild and reckless in his approach

          I agree.

I love watching them both and I personally think Armstrong would tear through every fighter out there right now.

However, Duran was a damn artist about, slipping punches and countering while still pressing the action. The only fighter today who comes close to him, IMO, is Roman Gonzalez who seems to press the action, take almost no punches and land all kinds of six and seven punch combinations that leaves his opponents helpless.
