Yes Jones was a very fast worked but at 160 he was very immature and he never was really challenged and I believe Hagler gives him the true challenge.
Toney at middleweight waited 3 years to fight a real opponent in Sosa, fought tuff with Mike and on he went to light heavy.
At 160 they fought no one in comparison to Hagler.
Who did Jones beat? A lazy Hopkins?

Heres the main point I try to make when comparisons are made.
I try to evaluate over all skills and talents. I like at Methods & Techniques before I like at names on a record!
I was a boxing trainer for many years and my view point is very different from a fans and for that matter a fighters!
Over all skills and the ability to adjust are very high on my thinking.
Their are throughout performances too, good and bad. These are people that struggle at times to reproduce a high level performance time after time.
They do have lives that involve love & death & business problems and turning it on & off isn't an option all the time.

I'm done with this topic, disliking a style is one think but hate isn't right. You don't even know the guy, Hagler was always a decent guy especially to kids giving out wraps, gloves and shirts and had no problem talking with anyone.

    ok late lunch is on............
HaHa your funny Ray.. your contradicting yourself mate, i have pointed out in over 5 posts all about skills & techniques, i have pointed out about abillity.. i have NOT mentioned records of who they fought. it was you who done that by naming Antuofermo, Hamsho and Ray Seales... LOL

Your done with this topic for one reason only my friend. And that reason is: "You have no answer to what i said".. "Your stumped mate".. Common sense say's Roy Jones rpis Marvin Hagler another ****ing arsehole if they had ever fought..

Even a little guy like Jones beat him and that should never happen to even a half decent heavyweight, Ruiz Schmuiz
Yes John Ruiz... The 2 time Heavyweight Champion of the World.
John Ruiz who beat Evander Holyfield, flooring Holyfield, something Lennox Lewis never came near to doing in 24rds.... John Ruiz who was good enough to beat Holyfield, Golota, Rahman, Tucker and was "Robbed" in World Title fights against Valuev & Chagaev...

John Ruiz who fought at World Level for 10yrs taking part in 12 Heavyweight Championship of the World Title Fights..

Ruiz would knock Hagler into the ground like a tent-peg.. Hagler only fought little guys from the lower weight divisions: Leonard, Hearns, Duran, Mugabi, Antuofermo..

Talk about "Hate of a Fighter" at this sentence.."""nobody should ever mention Ruiz in here again he was a disgrace to the heavyweight division period. Hagler is a coward who hid at 160 his entire career.

Ruiz is the most boring man ever to touch a title,

          this thread gives me headaches

if you want to watch Roy Jones blinding speed, try the:

            Pazienza fight
            Richard Hall fight
            Reggie Johnson fight
            Montell Griffin (2) fight
            Mike McCallum fight
            Bryant Brannon fight
            Tony Thornton fight
            Merquie Sosa fight

i see no reason whatsoever why Roy Jones Jr. would not be able to show his blinding hand speed and his punching power, if fighting Marvin Hagler... Hagler could not cut the ring down and catch an old Ray Leonard, so would have no chance against Roy Jones who was virtually untouchable at middleweight.. By untouchable, i mean his opponents could barely lay a glove on Jones, due to his incredible reflexes... Tommy Hearns had no problem in the opening round putting his punches on Hagler. Hearns landed almost every punch he through, cutting Hagler above and below each eye and splitting Haglers forehead open.. Great boxer that Hearns was, he never had the legs or reflexes Roy Jones had. i can think of no fighter in history who had reflexes better than Roy Jones Jr... IMO Roy would win every round.
Hagler had one nasty cut on his forehead. When Steele sent Hagler to be examined in the 3rd, the doctor sent Hagler back in a couple of seconds saying that is didn't block his vision. He was absolutely NOT "cut above and below each eye". I know facts aren't your friend, but this is utterly ridiculous.

If we go by punchstat numbers...my favorite metric in the whole world...its a fact that Stoney, Jawney's manager threw more punches during a ruiz fight than jawney did and...when billy martin was decking marshmellow salesmen he also threw more per a round.

It's funny because the Doctor sounded irritated at Steele for stopping the action for that cut. "It's not bothering his sight let him go!" I clearly remember hearing that on one of the broadcast for that fight.

People say Ray robinson. But Ray lost to a lot of fighters that were nowhere near Hagler at moddleweight.. No disrespect to Ray, but if guys like fullmer and basilio are beating you, hagler would beat you... No way hagler ever loses to the likes of fullmer, and basilio..
Robinson the greatest ever, but people act like he was invincible at any weight when clearly anything above welter, he was beatable... Let alone vs a guy like hagler.. Hagler would smash guys like basilio and fullmer just like he did *****ho and hearns

We can't honestly be saying that Stanley Ketchel would beat Marvin Hagler?

Anyway the only guy I'd favour over him is Monzon.

I think Robinson at 160 would lose.

**** Tiger vs Marvin Hagler would be a great fight but I think Hagler would edge him out.

Emile Griffith at Middleweight I think could pose problems but would ultimately lose. He wasn't too suited to that weight and wasn't at his best although still very good there.

                    Erm, not sure who else.

                      Beat them yes.

                      Smash them I don't know.

                      Both were extremely durable.
