Jugernutz if you knew your history you'd know that Dundee started in Stillmans Gym and worked under Ray Arcel & Chickie Fererra and Charlie Goldman. There was and still IS NO better place on Earth to learn how to box and how to teach boxing!
In 1950 the 5th Street Gym was opened in Miami by Dundees brother Chris who promoted boxing in the south and many fighters called it home.

To answer the topic, it's probably because it was thought back then most people didn't need to that much, as most guys, even athletes back in the day looked like, to quote Family Guy "out of shape in shape 1950s guy."
