when did Ernie "make" Holmes unconscious?
and remember Tyson was fighting an old Holmes they are NOT from the same era!

As I've stasted before Shavers is the hardest hitter I've ever worked with
(pad work) Tyson is the second and a fellow named Ken Schmidt was the third. All were heavyweights between 190 and 215lbs. Tyson was from 15 yrs to 18-19 forget which!

The best puncher p4p is Sugarman he could KO people moving in or back and either hand was fine! Simply the best!

Before Holmes got up to make the 10 count he was unconscious, you can tell by how his arm wa just flapping around and his body so still, Tyson knocked larry down with many flush shots and it never fully made hum go unconcious it just made him wobbly, its only when tyson caught him on the chin directly that he got the ko and unconsciousness from larry, earnie didnt need to hit him on the button and he only needed 1 shot, and it was a younger more resilient larry with better conditioning

Earnie Shavers never knocked out any quality opponents..

Hardest punching Heavyweight ever:- Joe Louis

Hardest punching boxer ever :- Sugar Ray Robinson
not true they just have to be hard punchers, they dont have to be the best fighters or even that good at all, hard is hard regardless of your effectiveness as a fighter, but i agree its hard to compare a can crusher to someone that only fought the best because its easier to blow ppl away when they suck

I cannot recall Shavers knocking Holmes unconscious with a single punch??

Shavers was managed by Don King just like Holmes & Ali were managed by King. All three fighters sparred together many times and were very good friends.. This is much to do with why both Holmes & Ali claim Shavers to be the hardest puncher..

Tyson knocked Holmes unconscious in there fight. it is the only time in Holmes career he was knocked out. ~Holmes went 23-3 after the Tyson KO loss including 2 world title fights, so you are way off the mark here Ray.

Ray. i have posted up a Trivia Question in another thread... With you working with Mike Tyson throughout his amateur career, you should be able to answer the trivia question without much thought?

Both Ali and Lyle said Shavers was the hardest puncher they ever faced. So he must be up there.

P4p I would say Julian Jackson or Prince Naseem Hamed.

well it happened but he was only unconscious for a second or 2, he got up and made the 10 count and won.

You started out good however who did Louis ever k.o?Put those little 5 ounces on Tyson or wlad it would be murder for 99% of the guys that Louis fought. What world also do you think SRR hits harder than even Louis?

Anyone can say what they wish k.o power is measured with how much damage can one shot do....no one has that like Tyson or W.Klitchko....either one i'll take over anybody....To those stating shavers..well how many rounds and punches did it take to get Holmes down?tyson barley hit Holmes with a clean shot until the 4th round in the short fight they had..As far as ali..well he was showing sighns of brain damage in that period with shavers so of course shavers is going to get clear shots in on him ,unlike Foreman...It was also a in shape 227 pound Holmes not the skinny 210 pounder shavers fought...oops I forgot weight doesn't mean anything...

I'll also go with the words of E.Stewart and F.Roach two established guys...roach being the one who said Wlad hits harder than Tyson and trained with both..and Stewart saying Wlad along with Tyson are the two guys who hit the hardest hes ever seen with one punch k.o ability.I'd also add pad work doesn't measure power its for accuracy, you can only hit so hard on pads...Heavy bag is much more accurate setting for power besides video footage and quality opponets which does matter also.shavers ran his k.o career up fighting undersized ,under talented fighters for the most part.
