  • Prime Holyfield Top 3 All Time

Evander Holyfield - 4 times Heavyweight Champion & undisputed Cruiserweight World Champion.. Evander could box, he could brawl, he was the roughest of the toughest. his 3 bouts with Rid**** Bowe prove his worth, his two bouts with Mike Tyson proved his toughness. His bouts with Foreman, Holmes, Dokes & Mercer showcased his boxing abilities. His war of attrition bouts with Dwight Qawi & Bert Cooper showed his relentless will to win..He was the dominant Heavyweight on the planet for a decade. Evander Holyfield is a Top 3 All time Great Heavyweight his resume proof of his ability... Tyson, Dempsey, Johnson, Lewis, Liston, Wlad, Foreman all good fighters but not worthy of the No3 position over Evander Holyfield.

    1/. Mihammad Ali
    2/. Joe Louis
    3/. Evander Holyfield

I guess it's not up for discussion, just you telling everyone. How giddy you get about him he must be good in bed too. He told you he would call and you're still waiting aren't you?

        LOL

But I don't have a problem with this, I think Holyfield could be ranked very highly. People who are more in favor of guys with BIG wins but less consistency over guys who were very consistent but don't have the big wins would rank Evander highly.

Like for instance I almost always see Holmes ranked over Holyfield. He may have had a very consistent winning streak but where are the truly big wins?(past prime Norton I guess) I mean Holyfield has the ones over Bowe, Tyson, Foreman and gave a good account of himself in the Lewis rematch at an advanced age, proving that he is one of the absolute best head to head HW's ever. And Holyfield fought in the second best HW era ever while Larry was in one of the weaker ones. Not a knock on Larry btw.

I have Lewis, Holyfield and Foreman at the same level, all in the top 5.

Are you that immature? I was trying to discuss my views on Tyson and you just sat there making a hypothetical fight into something that was concrete evidence. You are so close minded it isn't even funny.

I'm not saying he isn't in the top 10 or anything to that effect. I'd probably put him in the top 5 myself but it's sonny's attitude and superiority complex that is the issue.

My personal opinion and this list will be subjective no matter who picks them is:

            Tyson
            Louis
            Marciano
Frazier (my favorite that I can admit isn't the greatest)
            Holyfield
            Dempsey
            Lewis
            Holmes
            Ali
            Johnson

I think that is way to high Sonny. Now without checking boxrec (lol), I think he's the one with the most losses of championship fights of all time.

There's also that Evan Fields scandal. How should that detract from his accomplishments? A little? A lot? Not at all?

Holyfield was without a doubt one of the best technicians in HW boxing history and a great fighter. But top 3? Top 2 is a given, but does he have a better resume than Foreman, Holmes?

Hard to put holyfield top3 unless you are biased to Holyfield. Lets be honest here,he lost to Bowe twice Moorer once and beat an overweight Douglas to get that title all the more he lost to Lewis twice...he was not the most dominant HW for a decade,Lewis was along with W Klitchko that is not refuttable, you can include Louis but then you have to look at his resume...If he had won over Holmes in more convincing manner I would have him ranked over him,but he didn't.Fighting a 43 year old holmes he should have been able to dominant more.Maybe im missing something since I haven't seen that fight in awhile?

If we are going on pure resumes I would put him over many fighters still. He fought tougher guys than Louis,Foreman, and Ali imop.Where do you rank him on ability?I would have him in around number 5 or 6 at his best in a top 10 list.

I have Evander #5(1-Ali, 2-Louis, 3-Lewis, 4-Foreman, 5-Holyfield) but I definitely think his resume is much better than Holmes'. People rank Larry based on his talent/H2H ability and consistency but that is by far explained by his weaker era, and in turn can excuse Evander's losses since he was in the second best HW era.

Few other notes: I'm pretty sure that only Ali has fought more ATG's HW's than Holyfield. And the same can be said about facing everyone: Ali & Holyfield ducked literally no-one. Holmes unfortunately has some of the best names of his time missing on his record, and his best wins are past prime Norton, Shavers who imo is overrated, and a couple of very talented guys who were a bit green.
