Don't want to rain on other ppl's parade but...

Like FMJ, what was Roy's, or Floyd's signature win???
Who was their foil who pushed them to act like they are ATG's?????
Again, everyone has his, or her own opinion. I respect other's right to feel the they way they feel about their heros, musical choice, or political endorsements....
But...... Name his biggest win that made you say "that was a HOF victory"
He was down, but he came back to win against a tough battle tested opponent, that had him rattled......
Both of those guys(RJJ, & FMJ) in their minds, and fans minds think they were, or still are mentioned in the same breath as Ali, SRR, J.J., or even a Hank Armstrong, or Joe Gans.........
Sorry ladies, & gents. I understand those will claim they beat those that were in front of them, but... RJJ didn't want to fight Gerald McClelan, or give rematches in their prime Toney, & Hopkins...
      And we know FMJ's story.........

Your notion that a win against an ATG can only be great if you are struggling and end up overcoming it and winning in the end is redicilous.

And to answer your question, Roy's dismantling of two ATG's like Toney and Hopkins clearly qualify, and they're greater wins than anybody Floyd ever beat.

What's this crap about "take out his best two wins and what else is there?"

Why take out his best two wins? Why?

Take out Lewis best two wins he's barely even HOF calibur.

Golota lost to Bowe twice and that was after 1995.

How is Golota better than Griffin? How is he better than Tarver?

I'm not saying take out his best 2 wins.. My point is that jones from the toney fight didn't really fight a great schedule until ruiz almost a decade later.. Compared to other greats of the era or Oscar, lennox, etc, Roy's run is very shallow..
He has two big wins early vs hopkins and toney,l
Hopkins was jones' test at the top level in preparation for an eventual toney showdown..
Toney was Roy's gateway to PPv and stardom, and more importantly an hbo contract.. Once he got the contract he put it in cruise control until it expired and then all of a sudden he has 3 straight PPv fights and is taking challenges..

Remember when roy was trying to fight a fat buster douglas? For real, roy was set in cruise control for most of his prime.. whereas if you look at other greats of the 90s they fought a much better list of overall opponents..

That's not true Hopkins priced himself out and didn't want to fight Jones until he knew Jones was done after the weight drop HW to LHW. The initial reason RJJ went to Light Heavyweight was to give Toney a rematch but Toney lost a few fights. Eventually he couldn't even make the weight anymore.

Roy's run is very shallow? Please -- name all of these great guys those other guys beat and compare it to Roy's top names.

name all these great wins roy has besides toney n hopkins...

All you roy huggers spouting off about great wins, but all of you have refused to name Roy's ten best wins, or even acknowledge the fact that his prime run before and after toney was lackluster at best

Oscar gets criticized for fighting old chavez and pernell, but at least those guys were belt holders, still champs, and pernell was still on p4p lists.. But not a peep about roy fighting a 42 year old jr mid, over an over the hill virgil hill who had just been beaten by DM..
Reggie johnson was a good middleweight in the early 90s, at light heavy 8 years later he was nothing more than a crap paper titlist..
Montel was decent, but nothing special
                  Tate never really did anything
Del Valle was about as mediocre as you can get

Roy was even fighting the same day as he played basketball.. Lmao yeah he was really taking threatening fights...

Bryant Brannon but not Frankie liles.. Lmao

Remember when roy was fighting off duty cops.. Lmao

Please name all these great wins roy had besides toney and hopkins..
Like I said before, Roy's resume is top heavy and very shallow..

So please name his top 10 wins during his prime

Below is the list of Guys RJJ loses to, in my opinion as of right now. *All ratings subject to change.

                    Gene Tunney
                    Bob Foster
                    Billy Conn
                    Michael Spinks
                    Tommy Loughran
                    Matt Franklin
                    Dwight Braxton
                    Roy Jones

I believe Roy can take Moore, but I have adjusted for Greb, despite his one eye. It's just a matchup thing. Moore is a much greater fighter in terms of legacy than Jones, but too slow. Franklin might be too slow, as well. But there are a few guys I didn't list who might have beaten Roy. How would he have handled something like slapsy Maxie? He never faced anything resembling that.

Whitaker was well on his way out too when Oscar fought him. Quartey and Trinidad were much bigger theats. That's why Oscar was favored to win. I won't even get into how Oscar waited until Quartey was inavtive for 18 months after a shaky performance.

Chavez was well on his way too. Praising Oscar for those fights while criticizing Jones for opponents such as Johnson, Hill, or Mccallum is inconsistent.

Do you have a list of fighters in the 90's that fought and beat better fighters than Jones?
