I commend Roy for going up the weight classes. It's a difficult feat. With each stone in weight you're really venturing into harm's way.
That said - barging your way to the top of the weights and then to much fanfare challenging a second or third-tear opponent is not the stuff of legend.
Roy should have doubled down against the likes of Lewis. Had he lost (a practical certainty) his legacy wouldn't have taken a hit. No one would give him a chance - but he'd gain more respect in defeat against a genuine top-tier champion than after a dozen Ruiz victories.
Who knows - he might even have caught Lewis on one of those rare days when his concentration drifted off? But you have to be in it to win it I suppose.
