Roy Jones jr., along with Sugar Ray Leonard, were the 2 best p4p fighters I think I ever seen. But Roy could not compete on equal terms with any true world-class heavyweight. A prime Tyson, or Holyfield, or Lewis would have been too large an obstacle for the slender Jones.

But if what Jones did was so easy we would have seen a lot more guys who started their career at junior middleweight go all the way up and win a heavyweight belt.

Ruiz isn't that good but he was a solid heavyweight. To put on 20 lbs of muscle and beat a beltholder at heavyweight, then cut that off in the space of a few months to defeat the number 1 175lber straight away is impressive. That was my point.

I really find it amusing and ironic that people think Roy accomplished something beating a mentally disorganized, mediocre heavyweight. And whoptee do he took the weight off again....So what? Am I missing something? Ruiz and company was the start of the sombulent era of untalented heavies where guys like Toney went up and started to beat on the heavies. Frankly Roy could have feasted for a while on heavies if he really had his heart in it. I could see him hiding in Valuev's pant leg waiting to unleash.... Seriously beating Ruiz was not a very high bar.

I consider ruiz one of the weakest champs in history. I still give roy some credit tho as he was giving up so much natural weight but ruiz was the perfect fight for him at heavyweight
Ruiz also beat Rahman, Golota, Oquendo and Johnson. No I definitely think Ruiz get discredited due to his style. His results speak for themselves, he was one of the better title holders of the 00s to present(which again, I'm not gonna act like is amazing either).
