I can see daruisz beating the Roy that tarver fought or at least put up a good fight like tarver did, but Roy 98-02 would be too quick and explosive for the slower daruisz
Very good point. Besides a one punch ko, you haven't got a hope in hell vs prime Roy with inadequate speed...you will get clowned on full stop. Look at what Roy did to Toney, a smooth boxer who had very respectable hand speed in his prime, made him look foolish.

Yeah I totally agree Anthony, Benn realising years later he would have got his ass handed to him doesn't mean that Roy shouldn't have done it when it made sense too! Would have been exciting as hell and id have loved the build up but theres only one winner there.......

History might frown on Roy failing to fight Michalczewski the most but for me the biggest tragedy is the Nigel Benn fight failing to materialise...

I did some training with Nigel about 2 years back and the man can still ****!

Michalczewski would not go to America to fight Jones and Jones didn't want to go to Germany. I don't blame Jones one bit because he was the top fighter in the world. If Michalczewski wanted to fight the best he should have went to America.

Michalczewski was making very good money fighting in Germany. He apparently didn't get an offer good enough to tempt him to fight in the US. While it is true that if it was important enough to him he should have tried harder, it's still a two way street. Michalczewski was the lineal champion and Roy could have made a major statement (and payday) by beating DM in Germany. That's what "world champions" do.

If DM wanted a better legacy he would have chased Roy in America. But since he was content to just make money his place in history will reflect that.

That's what separates a Carl Froch and even a Kell Brook from a Michalczewski.

Roy should have fought him where ever he could have, not a seriously hard fight for him with his insane speed advantage and talent. He could have furthered his legacy and filled in a gap in his resume. I feel ego bettered him, knowing HE was number 1 and the bigger star, The Fighter that would be remembered GREAT....

Darius, he sat at home milking it, sure he was making decent cash but he had a shot at Greatness, a place among the Legends and the opportunity to make even more money.
The fight should have been made however u slice it, like Pac and Mayweather today nobody comes out looking good. That said I think most of the blame lies with Michalczewski

It's not like Glen Johnson was a greased lightning either though.

I'm well aware that Jones was somewhat past his best, but DM was IMO a very different beast than Johnson.
