im not sure ray gets rid of him as quickly as a lot of people here seem to believe. he didnt have the range and power of hearns to overwhelm him at will nor was he the inside fighter duran was where he could get inside cuevas' wide punches to land power shots of his own.
he would box cuevas a lot more carefully and break him down more slowly as a result, as big a puncher as he was im not convinced he gets rid of cuevas with any single punch. cuevas was tough and dangerous enough to keep ray honest at all times, i think it would go around 7-10 rounds.
no way cuevas sees the final bell with leonard though.

so I am not disagreeing with you but I think Pipino was a bit too limited to keep Ray honest for long

Ray moves to his left away from the hook for about 5 or 6 rounds. He steps in and fires combos finishing with the right hand not the hook to stay clean. I would expect Ray to stop Pepino inside 8 to 10 rds.
I never thought much of Cuevas's jaw I've seen him hurt a few times against guys that didn't bring power.
35w 15l and stopped 6 times is not an ATG record. I remember Price beating him easily and then when the punchers came in he went out!
I liked Pepino but I think by the time he was 28yrs old he was sick of boxing and continued on as an opponent at the end. Having a punchers chance is a good thing but he actually lost his power as his enthusiasm waned.
He started very young with very little to no experience.
Ray.

While unlikely that Cuevas would use the same approach, if he crowd and cut-off the ring the way Duran did, he'd stand a puncher's chance a vs Leonard. While Duran knocked Leonard off balance in the 2nd. round, as a harder puncher, Cuevas could knock him out!

I am sure he would of box from the outside like he did with Duran in the second fight
