Ali didn't have POWER. He had accurate punches with snap. Those kind of punches cause cuts. They're short, accurate, and still hurt. But they're not powerfull.
Like this guys above said, it took Ali a lot of punches to mess up Fraziers face, but he couldn't stop him. Foreman stopped him with a couple of uppercuts, but Fraziers face wasn't damaged.

And who elese stopped Frazier?
His punches were fairly powerful wen he sat down on them. Look at how he knoocked out Cleveland Williams, or Jerry Quarry in their 2nd fight. Quarry was a tough guy who took an awful lot of Fraziers best shots before he was stopped.
Of course Ali's punches wre more about speed and accuracy, but IMO its not that he didnt have power, but his technique was not as a naturally powerful puncher. He was a boxer, a sharp shooter. He had power, but not as much as other heavyweights. That wasnt his game.

What's so impressive about Ali's stoppage of Quarry in their rematch (especially considering it was against a fighter who just watched his brother get brutally KO'd earlier in the evening)?
Quarry was obviously exhausted to begin the 7th round, Ali threw a flurry of arm punches and one solid left hook, Quarry stumbled once, the referee stoppped it, and Quarry seemed perfectly fine and threw up his arms in disgust just a moment later...
Not much impressive there.Last edited by Yogi; 11-28-2006, 02:27 AM.

I'm convinced, other than Ray Robinson boxing fans always find away to take away greatness with excuses. This article may be fake but there are people that believe that Ali isn't great which is insane. I dear someone to make a case why Sugar Ray Robinson isn't great...lol That would be hilerious.
