  • From a historical perspective....Cotto?

He may have surpassed his countrymen to become Puerto Rico's boxing ambassador....Comments?

Hes won in more divisions than any other PR champ and done a few more things. He likes the color pink and to hold hands with his male friends....I grew up in East harlem and if anyone had told me these idiocycracies would be part of Borica boxing championship lore I would have laughed at ya!

For the record I like Miguel and think him to be a hell of a fighter...the best from Borica? I can't decide. Camacho was really good but i might give the nod to Miguel over Trinidad...

    Thoughts?

It was a great win and Cotto is up there but personally I think Tito may have the edge. Cotto has some more fights left and could move up.

I still gotta favor Tito, Gomez, and maybe camacho.. Cotto is probably top 5 ever from Rico, but still don't think he is greater than the others..

Beating serg was a great win, but it's not that great historically.. Serg was clearly over the hill

Not so much a great win but it will look good on his resume, even so it's historically insignificant.

...that would be a "drunk wagon" .......................

Cotto deserves all the applause he's getting and a very good job by Freddy and his Wild Card gym to inspire this guy and refocus him. Its not all about a left hook with seasoned guys its more about caring about them and giving them an setting that's healthy and a chance to heal up.

As for the nationalists Cotto has moved up the list but I think these fellows are ahead right now.

              Tito
              Wilfredo Gomez
              Carlos Ortiz
              Pedro Montanez
              Macho Man
.................plus fellows like Ortiz, Torres and Dejesus were really good fighters and are right there in talent and popularity.

Congrates to Cotto & Freddy, they better be careful on their next moves.
I would go for the money and get Mayweather to sign up. If not Canelo but stay away from GGG I think he's to strong and Cotto plays into his strengths too.

Use the Title to entice lil' Floyd if not let GGG take it and go after Canelo it would be a very good money fight!
Wouldn't it be great to freeze Floyd OUT??? Then again Floyd money is the goal, its all about the return and Freddy is playing his card! Ray.

By all of the accounts that I have read Cotto beat a worn out, lame fighter.

Marciano beat Louis, how great of win was it in reality.

Not to the same extent but along those lines.

Its true but I think he exposed a guy who wasn't that good to begin with.
Who did he fight? A tired and disturbed Pavlik a decent young fighter in Williams and Junior who can't box oranges and is a fool!

This Sergio fellow was rude and abusive throughout the promo stages and then gets his butt kicked and bolts from the presser!!! Screw him he ducked GGG all this time and took the money to fight a guy who he thought wasn't capable of hurting him.........Wrong!

He knew and his people knew he was hurt and that he would be compromised in this fight but they went on and took the money! All the insiders knew!

Rockin' Cotto just did his job and I've been saying for years its time for him to go but if your careful like lil Floyd is you can still pick up the pennies and in this case its millions!!!
nite , someone shut the lights off.............tell that punk kid to wash the floor before he leaves too.......Ray.

That would also be my account of what happened, as well as my prediction going in. After watching him fight Murray I knew Martinez was finished. Smart of him to get a nice paycheck on the way out.
