Hagler didn't do anything against Antuofermo that was out of the norm for him back then. He still won fairly comprehensively on any credible, impartial scorecard. And his problems with Geraldo (struggling to cut the ring off) and Duran (being forced to lead) were were stylistic related.

He took his foot off the gas in the later rounds against Antuofermo, which cost him the fight.

hearns often did IF he didnt get his man out of there early. blasted most guys out like he should, but if it went rounds he would lose his intensity in a way he didnt against top fighters.

he started showboating and playing around too much and would only work sporadically. even that work would at times be rather sloppy as he would just look for the KO and not invest as much in setting it up as he did with better fighters.

But he fought down to their level, guys he should have stopped and battered, he went 12 rounds with, making it more of a sparring session. Surely that fits the criteria.

But he'd toy with them. You don't have to knock someone out to dominate them.
