I think he is clearly the best fighter of his generation. Along with SRL the best fighter I've seen since I started watching boxing in 79. Tremendous skills and a hig boxing IQ.

Most disciplined "in ring" fighter ever. Simply can't be goaded into fighting "the other guy's fight".

Perhaps if he were less polarizing and self absorbed he would be more appreciated.

      Mayweather vs........

.....an aggressive, tough southpaw with speed and power. Guess this is probably a fantasy fight now and always will be but this is a question to the majority of people including myself who believe mayweather beats him. Every great fighter comes across a fighter that stylistically is a big issue. Is it possible that we are underestimating mannys chances in this fight and with the judges the way they are at the moment, I think even an old pacman still has a big chance. I might be being optimistic but I also think that Floyd's invincible aura is maybe just a bit overhyped today and people forget fighters that roughed him up in the past including an old oscar and a very genuinely hurt mayweather against mosley. Is pacquiao Floyd's worst nightmare or just an akward but unanimous victory (today's pacquiao)?

Yeah and more willing to not avoid better opponents.

You can make a argument for Floyds defence over peps, but then to say that

Stop it, if Floyd is afraid of Manny than Floyd in a fantasy fight could NEVER beat Pac.

I for one used to think Floyd would easily beat Pac, but there has to be a lot of fear from Floyd to turn down a lot of money when as he's mentioned its all he fights for these days.

Exactly. First he said he'd fight Pac if he agree to random drug testing. Then, when Manny finally agreed to that, it was a disagreement over the money split. Floyd wanted 60-40 in his favor, Manny wanted 50-50. He couldn't have just gone 55-45 and met in the middle? I've often thought Floyd would win because of his counter punching being able to negate a lot of Manny's aggressive offense. At this point though, he'd get caught with something at some point and have to move around and keep countering to recover, like he did against Mosley.

Is there anyone that was at the top of the sport that would duck a fight of this magnitude for this long??? I know there's been some ducking in the sport but I can't think of any great that would turn down a fight that has been one of the most demanded fights probably ever. For that reason you could rank him below jones n whitaker. How does he compare himself to Ali, even if he was the best he would still be lightyears below him just because he's the biggest ducker in the sport. Either fight manny or don't compare urself to Ali.

Can't think of one, but I'm sure the true historians here can think of some. Maybe Bowe-Lewis?

Robinson didn't Burley and reasoning was "I'm too pretty".

For a long time Ali was refusing to fight Norton unless for a load of money.

Pacquaio turned down and walked away from a 50-50 Split with Mayweather because he wouldn't take a drug test. I suppose 2-3 years later he agreed to it so that makes ok, or something.

I think there's no doubt now that mayweather did everything in his power to avoid manny by just demanding new things. You gotta remember that mayweather doesn't want the fight and pacquiao does. Pacquiao agreeing to a drug test is just him giving in to whatever mayweather wants just to get him to fight him. He litterally has to get on his hands and knees, it takes the piss and mayweather still just keeps quiet and hopes he gives up and let it die out with the help of his brown nosing fans. Ali fought norton, and yeh Robinson ducked burley but burley wasn't a big name like the pacman and doesn't compare to the demand of this fight. You can't just brush this one aside
