He gave Pacquaio two chances to accept two different dates and he refused both.

The drug testing being requested was absolutely reasonable for both men and something that's been done numerous times now by plenty of fighters in Boxing since.

The only person it wasn't OK for is Pacquaio.

No I'm not saying he agreed to some but should agree to more, I'm saying he should agree to what's being asked. He didn't agree to what was being asked.

What I find more odd is that you are happy with fighters declining and walking away from fights for the poorest of reasons and don't consider them to blame despite being the sole reason it fell through and not only that somehow consider the other side to be the blame. I not only find that odd I find it baffling.
I've seen a clip on YouTube, looks pretty legit showing an interview with pacquiao (subtitles) just after morales 1 saying that he felt very weak in the fight due to blood testing 2 days before the fight because of an error made with the original sample and morales also stated that he dint feel mannys power in that fight so just a point to add that it wasn't just being dictated to. From what I'm aware he was happy to take blood but not near the date of fight but would take it straight after the fight and would give urine the day of the fight and leading to the fight, the question was why wasn't mayweather able to just to make a comprise and come to a deal happy for both. No fights off, seems so drastic at the time and no real effort by mayweather to make it happen, just move on quickly, which is what happened

Pacquaio was the one that moved on quickly and was signed to fight Clottey within days.

That's a weak excuse IMO. Plus he's agreed to it now so it was a problem then and not now? Another reason for Pacquaio being "weak" was he didn't have his Cleto Reyes gloves..

And Mayweather did compromise. He offered a 14 day cut off and that was also rejected by Pacquaio.

      • Thread needs sources. These are two very good links.

It should be pretty obvious that both are at fault. But one side pulled out of negotiations and started a lawsuit against the other.

        That was Team Pacquiao.

Eventually Mayweather had to pay Pac an undisclosed settlement for his unfounded accusations.

I usually try to simplify things. Mayweather had seen all of Manny's recent fights. Either he thought he could beat him, or he wasn't so sure. If he thought he was the better fighter he should have gone along with the standard NSAC testing and won the fight and made a fortune. Pacquaio chose to walk away from that unprecedented demand thinking he was being dictated to. That was his choice and he's been able to live with it. I've never faulted him for that. Better testing should be initiated by the state commissions, not by clauses in fight contracts.
          Exactly...

          • Wouldnt it be nice to talk about boxing rather than negotiations no one actually witnessed?

Right, so what was the "precedent" for the weight clause in the Cotto fight? Where was the "concern" for that one?

Whys it ok for Pacquaio to make demands outside of Comission rules but no one else?

And why is it every one else can accept these basic requests like Floyd, Morales, Cotto (for the weight) and a long list of guys from the drug testing yet Pacquaio wouldn't and gets a pass and some how is not at fault? Explain that one to me.
