  • 2 seldom mentioned middleweights

Hugo Pastor Corro. Ronnie Harris. Two top middleweights in the Hagler era that never fought Hagler. How good were they? How would they have performed against Hagler pre-Antuofermo 1?

I believe Hagler would have beaten both but that is a safe assumption. Corro was a tough fighter without much punch. He was pretty much done after losing to Antuofermo. Harris was a very good boxer in spite of losing a close decision to Corro in Argentina. I always believed if Harris was brought up in todays time he would have done well. He was not exciting but had the skills that with the right matchmaking could have ruled one of the titles for awhile.

They were rather ordinary and I wouldn't give either a real chance against any version of Marvin Hagler.

seldom mentioned for a reason, Hagler could have beaten both on the same night, maybe at the same time

Corro was a mover who was effective but bland. Beating Valdez was very impressive, he really tired him out on both occasions if my memory serves me correct. The question is whether he beat him because Corro was just that good a mover and boxer or because Valdez was over the hill. There is probably some truth in both but most seem to believe the latter, that Valdez just didn't have enough left in the tank anymore. I very much doubt Corro would have beaten Hagler.

Micheal Nunn is another MW that doesnt get alot of mention besides being linked to toney,,

Pre-toney and even a few years after,, Nunn was a really good fighter, and around 88-89 i thought he was going to be the next huge star,,, He was a really gifted fighter, but like vernon forrest getting derailed by mayorga, nunn got derailed by toney,, and both forrest and nunn would go on to win belts in higher division, but could never again match the success they had at welter and middle

Nunn was a very good MW
