I could see Williams winning on punch volume, if he can stay standing. His lack of defense seemed to be his biggest problem. Always liked Williams though, entertaining in interviews and fun to watch, his fights never seemed dull to me.

Man, so many of you predicting Canelo? Noway man, Williams was bigger, stronger and had a miles better engine. Yes he wasn't the same fighter he had been a couple years earlier but he was still FAAAAR from shot.

Canelo gases bout round 6, Williams fights into round 12, noway would Canelo be able to handle that, heck it wasn't just William's size and work rate, he had faster hands too and was far more seasoned. Canelo's only advantage is that he might have it harder but Wiliams ain't getting hurt by no midget ginger. Williams all night long.

So Williams was supposed to fight Canelo before his accident? I heard that was going to be his last fight before retiring. I remember him mentioning considering retirement after the Lara fight, saying he had saved a lot of money. Too bad he didn't get to finish on an up note. I heard it was also supposed to be on PPV for his biggest payday, is that true?

That fight was already made and scheduled when Paul had his tragic accident.

PPv yes,,, it was the curse of canelo,, first Mayorga ( rumor), then Williams but had the accident, then Ortiz but jaw broke, angulo had immigration issues, Kirkland shoulder injury and money issues, and finally Lopez

Not sure if it was Williams career high payday, but pretty safe to assume so, serg 2 was probably his biggest payday to date up until that point and being vs canelo on PPv, Williams probably would have had his career high

Interesting. The only up sides now are Williams seems to be in good spirits these days, he said he saved a lot of his money and his spine was supposedly only bruised, not severed, which means he might someday walk again.

Exactly. He could recover like that former Jets football player Dennis Byrd.
