Surely stare downs were in evidence in the past too, probably not as popular as they are now but I can't imagine someone like Sullivan not giving his opponents the 1000 yard stare.

you gotta be the real deal to be entrusted with giving eulogies of great fighters.

You can google it if you want. All you have to do is put both names and stare down.
        Thank you, Sir.

Isn't it funny when a boxer with a mediocre record is trying a stare-down against a far more qualified opponent ...

When a fighter don't pay any attention to his staring opponent during the ring instructions, like Tyson and the elderly Foreman, it most often shows who is really full of self-confidence.
Must be very frustrating when your meanest gaze is simply ignored.

This is pretty cool man...I'm pretty sure the idea of staring at your opponent has been around since forever, but a modern type of staredown starting this way would be a cool story. I hadn't heard this before, thanks man

Will listen when I get a chance. You rule.

Know of any female boxers who avenged all their losses, draws and no contests?

Indeed. You noticed how most Cuban boxers avoid eye contact?

Isn't it hard it really tell when they started it when Roman Gladiators were staring each other down 2000 years ago? Staring down you opponent is older than boxing probably.

Yes, but I'm talking modern pro boxers.

True. But when Floyd Patterson wouldn't look at Sonny Liston, I think he was legitimately scared.
