I dont know about ATG ability,, but i do think he is severly underrated,, people assume he is just some bum, feeding off cherrypicks in asia, and that may be true, but the guy does have top level skill no doubt,,

I think he suffers the same fate as sven ottke, and calzaghe before calzaghe took the lacy and kessler fights

One thing that should be mentioned is in his 300 fights and 256 losses Buckley didn't touch the canvas once, incredible beard and heart on the man.

Guys like Emmanuel Augustus, Mickey Ward, Glenn Johnson, Quarry and Lyle all need mentions for always putting up tough exciting fights against quality opposition as true fan fighters.

Winky Wright, Rid**** Bowe, Trinidad, Joe Frazier also deserve mentioned for reaching the top but not really having great reigns.

Those type guys i think will slowly be forgotten by history
Agreed about history slowly forgetting these guys. Wright seems like the most likely to fit the bill for this list. Stepping back a couple generations, I think of Pipino Cuevas as being the prototype for this sort of classification. I'll also mention Lloyd Honeyghan and, perhaps more controversially, Rodrigo Valdez.

yeah pretty much,,, john, ottke, and calzaghe were very skilled fighters, no doubt, but outside of joe,, john and ottke never pushed themselves into any big fights and were content to stay at home and fight cherrypicks,,,

i wish john and ottke had stepped up in competition to see how really good they are, because they were talented but due to career choices will never be seen as great fighters
