Hedefinitely doesn't take out Ali. Ali was too strong, fast, big and crafty.

Seriously this fight is interesting. Generally there's a simple bifurcation:

1) Louis was an ATG, Tyson was an All-Time Dud. Louis takes it on grounds of his greatness.

2) Tyson was too big and fast (and advanced) for Louis.

I think the latter is more true, but we have to remember that Tyson carried extra weight for two reasons: 1) his opponents were hulking, lumbering sloths; 2) Steroids.

How much room do we have to move here? Teleport Tyson into the ring, in place of Billy Conn or Arturo Godoy (the rematch)and Louis probably gets ridiculously overwhelmed.

But if Louis is allowed to prepare for Tyson. Given a full camp, he could easily pack on the needed 25 pounds to match Tyson for size. He's no longer worried about having to catch guys like Conn and Braddock, he can afford to pack on muscle.

Tyson was more kinetic, Louis was more static. They had equal hand speed. They were equally effective as finishers. Louis wasbetter on the inside. Tysonwas better at closing the distance.

It's really power vs. speed, but since they're both pressure fighters I think that favors the former.

Really, without the PEDs, I doubt Tyson would have been that much better than Patterson. He was slightly bigger, was much more ferocious, had a much better chin. (But he was also much less game; meaner, but less game). And we can all agree that Louis was much better than Patterson.

If it seems like I am going to great lengths to argue for Louis, it must be considered that great achievements had been made in pharmaceuticals to create a monster like Tyson.
